Problem:
Amazon Q Developer in VS Code has started repeatedly asking me to Authenticate, even after successfully logging in.
I have already logged in with a fresh account and repeated the authentication flow around 5 times, but the issue keeps happening.
After authentication:
- Amazon Q appears to be authenticated.
- I send a message in the Q Chat.
- The chat shows the Authenticate button again.
- Clicking Authenticate takes me through the login flow again.
- After logging in, the same issue happens again.
This creates an authentication/login loop and I am currently unable to use Amazon Q for my work.
Additional issue: Model selection missing
The model selection option is also not appearing correctly in the Q Chat.
Currently, the chat only shows Claude Sonnet 4, and I don't get the expected model selection options.
Steps to reproduce
- Open VS Code with the Amazon Q Developer extension.
- Open Amazon Q Chat.
- Authenticate/login with a fresh account.
- Send a message in the chat.
- The Authenticate button appears again.
- Click Authenticate.
- Complete the login flow again.
- Send another message.
- The same authentication prompt appears again.
The authentication flow repeats continuously.
Expected behavior
After successfully authenticating, Amazon Q should remain authenticated and allow me to continue chatting without requiring authentication again.
The model selector should also be available in the chat interface so that I can select from the models available to my account.
Actual behavior
- Authentication does not persist.
- Amazon Q repeatedly shows Authenticate after login.
- Clicking Authenticate repeatedly sends me through the login/logout flow.
- Model selection options are not appearing.
- I am currently blocked from using Amazon Q for development work.
Impact
High priority / Blocking
I am currently stuck and unable to continue my work using Amazon Q.
Could you please investigate and fix this on priority? I have already tried logging in multiple times with a fresh account, but the authentication loop continues.
