Publication catorgories

During OGGM meeting we discussed it would be nice to categorize the publications in the publication list as the list is growing. Ideally one paper could be labelled in different categories. One being the level in which the publication uses OGGM (e.g. only make use of the center lines/more intensive use the model/ include model developments). Another category could for instance be more theme based (e.g. hydrology), or address its spatial scale (glacier/basin/regional/global) or its time scale (paleo/historical/decadal/future). Either way, there is no volunteer to implement this now and keep it up to date. Therefore this issue is just a suggestion for the future.

Short update: In light of the increasing number of publications, the topic raised in this issue came up again. We discussed it during today's fortnightly meeting and came to a similar conclusion as last year. For now we will continue the way we did, listing all publications (we're aware of) using OGGM*. We will track how this is going from time to time, and if a more urgent need for categorizing arises. Afterall the labeling would take more time than just listing the publications. @bearecinos mentioned Elicit, which might be an useful IA tool to help with labeling once the time comes.

*By using OGGM we mean a part of OGGM is being used. This includes e.g. PyGEM papers and studies that make use of the OGGM centerlines in their methods and excludes those that only cite OGGM in for instance the introduction.
