Backend: API for sending control commands to robotic hand

Implement a backend endpoint that receives commands from the browser and forwards them to the Bluetooth interface.

Responsibilities:

• Accept command requests from web client
• Forward commands to Bluetooth service
• Return success/error status

Proposed approach:

• Create a backend API layer that exposes endpoints for controlling the hand
• Connect these endpoints to the BluetoothService module

Planned endpoints:

• POST /api/hand/connect → establish Bluetooth connection
• POST /api/hand/command → send command (e.g. PINCH 50)
• POST /api/hand/disconnect → close connection

Response format:

• Return success/error status with basic messages for now

Current status:

• BluetoothService is implemented and currently simulates connection and command flow (no hardware yet)

Next step:

• Set up a simple Express server and wire these endpoints to the BluetoothService

Implemented the initial backend API layer for robotic hand control.

Current working endpoints:

• POST /api/hand/connect
• POST /api/hand/command
• POST /api/hand/disconnect

The endpoints are wired to the simulated BluetoothService and tested locally through HTTP requests.

Verified flow:

1. Connect to simulated device
2. Send command (PINCH 50)
3. Disconnect successfully

Next step is refining request validation and integrating real serial/Bluetooth communication once hardware access is available.

Added command validation to the backend API layer.

The /api/hand/command endpoint now validates incoming commands before forwarding them to the BluetoothService.

Validation currently checks:

• Allowed command names (POWER, POWERSMALL, MONKEY, PINCH, RELAX)
• Optional closure values between 0-100

Tested locally through HTTP requests:

• Valid command: PINCH 50 → accepted
• Invalid command: BANANA 999 → rejected with validation error

This keeps the backend API aligned with the firmware command protocol before integrating real Bluetooth/serial communication.
