Problem Statement

Clients need real-time updates for meter readings and billing events. Adding GraphQL subscription support enables efficient real-time data delivery without polling.

Technical Bounds

• WebSocket-based GraphQL subscriptions
• Support filtered subscriptions by device ID or service type
• Connection management with heartbeat
• Message batching for high-throughput scenarios

Steps

1. Set up GraphQL subscription transport
2. Implement subscription resolvers for meter data
3. Add connection management and cleanup
4. Implement message filtering and batching
5. Add load testing for concurrent connections
