same issue , i will try official document solutions but not solve and show me error for java version ,
my,
gradle version - 6.2
java version - 11.0.8,
So, Tell java and gradle version which is support this library ???

Ok i solved the problem by changing

project(':react-native-facerecognition').projectDir = new File(rootProject.projectDir, '../node_modules/react-native-facerecognition/android')

to

project(':react-native-facerecognition').projectDir = new File(rootProject.projectDir, '../node_modules/react-native-facerecognition/android/app')
