This should not happened. I put extra measure to prevent it...

one instance where in the past this happened (and still happens with many applications you can download elsewhere that they react upon key-pressing events) is because the user withdrew the permission when the app was still running.

Could something like this explain what you found? Perhaps you had the app running, you authorized it, but then changed your mind and removed the authorization?

The app can remain trapped at the level of the macOS kernel. The kernel refuses to honor what the app does but the app was handed over the flow of keys from the keyboard. So the app does not have a way out anymore.

There is a time out I planned of about a couple of seconds to disable the app if the app realizes that it fell in this trap, and thus, releases back control of the keyboard.

So, normally, this should not have happened, but probably there are edge cases I did not cover.

Do you experience this behavior every time? Or was just one time off? I understand that it is frustrating to repeat the test because it forces you nearly to shutdown by brute force your macOS.
