Make it more clear that we support more languages than just the ones we show by default

As you can see in the image above, I would like to see Italian and Portuguese added to the list of languages supported by Abstract.
Of course, it is possible to search for the language of your choice and have the content translated, but unlike the languages on the list, this requires a separate request to the server, and the process takes a little longer.

Furthermore, one thing I find puzzling is that, despite these two languages accounting for a larger share of web content than Hindi and Korean, and being frequently localised, they are not included in the list.

However, in the case of Portuguese, translations have consistently been carried out using a dual structure comprising Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR) and European Portuguese (PT-PT; effectively, all countries except Brazil), and as translation and localisation are primarily carried out in the larger PT-BR variant, that should be prioritised; nevertheless, if possible, it would be good if improvements could be made to ensure translations are carried out in neutral Portuguese.

Hello! You can actually search for more languages. We support many more than are show right away. I realize this is not clear though!

That’s fine.
However, for languages not listed, the text will not be translated immediately; instead, when the user requests the translation from the server, the server will begin the translation process at that point, which may take a little longer depending on the length of the text. Furthermore, the result is not permanently stored.
That’s why I wrote this post. It seems that, technically speaking, the way it works is a bit different. Isn’t that right?

For the languages listed, we will pre-generate them and store the results. For the languages not listed, we will generate them when a user asks and restore it for future readers of that language. As the price of translations goes down we may consider adding more languages to our auto-translation list!
