I'm curious what the expected release date for v9.0.0 is? I know Nuxt UI is using embla carousel and I expect that they are waiting with upgrading it until there is a full release.

It’s honestly hard to give a clear timeline since this is an OSS project and development depends a lot on available time and community feedback.

Before cutting a stable v9.0.0 release, there are a few important things I need to address:

• There are a couple of bug tickets related to React 19 and the React compiler. I haven’t had time to properly investigate these yet, but they’re critical to resolve since ~98% of users are on React.
• I want to explore making SSR a plugin instead of a built-in feature. There’s been feedback that it adds too much weight to the core library, especially for users who don’t need it.
• The scroll optimizer will also be moved out into a plugin rather than being part of the core.
• Wheel gestures support has to be in place, but this is maintained by a separate developer: Adapting Your Plugin for Embla Carousel v9 xiel/embla-carousel-wheel-gestures#231 (comment).

Once these changes are in place, the plan is to test everything thoroughly, fix any remaining issues, and then move toward a stable release.
