Just realised why I haven't encountered [this issue](https://github.com/dfabulich/easygit/issues/3) before. I'm using EasyGit 1.8.5 (released on 2014-03-09), which has a [less fragile](https://github.com/dfabulich/easygit/pull/4) implementation of status scraping (it pretty much leaves it to git). Unfortunately, since the death of Gitorious, I can't find a copy of that version online. There were also [other commits](https://web.archive.org/web/20141018114637/https://gitorious.org/eg) to the mainline repo, which now appear to have been lost. @newren? I've uploaded the last checkout I have (1.8.5) [here](https://github.com/chocolateboy/easygit/tree/gitorious).
