BleError after connecting

Hi there. Amazing work! I was wondering about what my iqos can do, so i bumped into this project.

After connecting, im getting the following error and not getting a CLI.

Connecting to IQOS device...
Connected!
Error: BleError(Other(DbusError(D-Bus error: Operation failed with ATT error: 0x80 (org.bluez.Error.Failed)))

Any clue why this is happening?

Im using latest stable Ubuntu setup in this case.

I got it working by disabeling the model number checks for now.

Is there any way to get usage data/statistics? Something like how many sticks where used today?

Hey, thanks a lot for trying this project out and for opening the issue!

I’ve only tested this on macOS so far, and only with a small set of IQOS models.
Since different OSes use different Bluetooth libraries, my first guess is that this might be related to BlueZ on Linux rather than the code itself. I’ll try to test it on a Linux setup when I get the chance.

It’s also possible that the IQOS model you’re using is a bit older or just behaves slightly differently.
For reference, could you tell me which IQOS model you’re using?

At the moment, the IQOS CLI can only do what the official app exposes (things like brightness and vibration settings).

Getting usage data/statistics like “how many sticks were used today” is definitely an interesting idea. That would probably require some extra reverse engineering of the device, but I’m interested in exploring it.
