For a distance of 1 km, the distance from the the top left bounding box co-ordinate to the co-ordinate is coming as more than 1 KM. Is this expected

It is correct, this is the distance to the bounding box that contains the inner radius, not to the distance circle itself.

If you check the distance to a point with the latitude in the middle between the SW and NE locations, you will get the exact radius as a distance.
