There are two zip-based modpack formats. CurseForge modpacks contain references to CurseForge mods and they have specifically asked Modrinth not to support their mods. It's thus unlikely that the Modrinth launcher will ever support the CurseForge zip format. The other format is the MultiMC zip format, which directly bundles mods. This could be added to the Modrinth launcher without issues, but these modpacks are somewhat rare in the wild. They also have some features that Modrinth might not be able to easily support, such as custom components and java agents.
