The State of Docs Report 2026 is live — and this year’s edition is the most comprehensive one yet.

We surveyed documentation professionals across the industry and sat down with contributors from a range of companies to get a real picture of where docs are headed.

A few things that stood out from the data:

• 70% of teams now factor AI into their information architecture decisions — up from 31% last year
• 76% use AI regularly, but only 44% have guidelines in place
• 30% say keeping docs in sync with the product is their single biggest challenge
