I get this error when running the compiled GUI:

Hey, I knew this issue would come back to me at some point. This unfortunately is a distro related problem and I cannot replicated it, as I'm running Ubuntu. But what I might suggest is to run without the "-E" (so sudo ./YeetMouseGui) but first set the proper parameter for the missing variable like so: export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/$(id -u).
If this helps, You can make this change permanent by running this:

echo "export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/$(id -u)" >> ~/.bashrc

If on the other hand this doesn't work, here's a config You can use to get the same acceleration as with RawAccel:

Well, I'm glad at least the config worked. Unfortunately there's nothing more I can do regarding this issue, someone else, who actually has this problem will have to investigate more and suggest changes. I'm not closing this issue as it's still kind of unresolved and maybe someone will look into it next time this topic comes around.

I had the same issue, my "solution" was to run the gui without sudo, which means you can't apply the settings in real time. BUT you can download the config and install it normally. Much more trial and error, but I found a good jump setting that works for me, just required more patience.

I also had this issue. My solution was to run sudo $(printenv | grep XDG_RUNTIME_DIR) ./YeetMouseGui. It's probably not the optimal solution, but it seems to work fine with no side effects. Might be worth including it in the readme as an alternative.

You can try it out by:

• Uninstalling the current version!
• Installing the new one:

  git clone -b feature/better-config-handling https://github.com/AndyFilter/YeetMouse.git
  cd YeetMouse
  ./install.sh

  (Or using the installation method applicable to your Linux Distro)

Hey @corrm, it looks like you're testing the old version of the code from the master branch (based on the 0.9.2 version). You need to install the code from the better config handling branch.

Also, I'm not totally sure about Arch installation. I mean I didn't change anything (in that PR) beyond the gui name (to just yeetmouse), but I unfortunately can't test it.

So please download the "updated" version (git clone -b feature/better-config-handling https://github.com/AndyFilter/YeetMouse.git). Or just switch the branch if you already have the repo cloned:

Great! I mean it didn't cross my mind to test it with sudo, but I think this behaviour is reasonable. Thought I think the program should exit with some error even if no Gtk errors are found when running as sudo. As it's not the recommended way, and might even screw up some permissions.

So regarding this whole issue, everything should work without sudo, and you should never have to run the GUI with sudo. Hope this solves the issue.
You can now import your config, and save (Apply + Save) it from the gui, and it should be automatically persistent across reboots. No need to rebuild the driver or any other funny business.

Anyway, thanks for testing out the changes I made! I'm glad it worked, just out of curiosity - have you used the arch installer, or just the install.sh script?
