Hi Michael,

I'm Tom, building mloda-plugin-govdata on top of mloda (Prototype Fund
grant), connecting to Destatis/GovData and harmonizing German regional
codes (AGS/ARS) across years. pystatis is the closest tool to what we're
building, so I wanted to reach out directly rather than guess.

This is a genuine user-research contact try, not a bug report, so please
just close/delete this if it's not welcome here.

If you're up for it: 15-20 min sometime on where pystatis stops for you
and what you still hand-roll around it (AGS/ARS harmonization especially).

No worries either way, and sorry for the noise if this isn't the right
channel.

Actually, I am only the developer and maintainer behind pystatis but I do not really use it as I am not a data journalist so I build it mainly as a side project in CorrelAid and based on the user feedback we received from people actually working with Destatis and Genesis databases.

I would need to check the code but if I remember correctly I also use some hand-curated lists of AGS/ARS codes to categorize them or get the header right and separate Deutschland from Bundesländer and other lower regional and geographical areas
