I modified the model like this 👇, so it's more compact when mounted directly on the frame of my simpit.
Changes:
PCB and USB socket are mounted here:
Wiring it was a little fiddly because it's so compact and some things were hard to access when the whole thing was already mounted on my simpit frame.
But overall I'm happy with the result and the only thing I might add is a cover around the top, sides and rear to protect it from dust and fingers.
