Book: Stachurski — A Primer in Econometric Theory: MyST-MD edition via claude-latex-to-myst, list on quantecon.org/books #365

Description

@mmcky

Part of #362.

Book

A Primer in Econometric Theory (MIT Press, 2016) — John Stachurski. Homepage at johnstachurski.net/emet with table of contents and six sample-chapter PDFs; lecture slides by Akshay Shanker at jstac/econometric_theory_slides; code as R/Python/Julia notebooks at jstac/econometrics. The LaTeX source is held by John and is not yet in a repository (QuantEcon/econometrics is an unrelated 2017 stub). John liaises with MIT Press on rights.

Tasks

Create MyST-MD edition using QuantEcon/claude-latex-to-myst (see its docs/getting-started.md; book-dp2 is the reference conversion)

  • John places the LaTeX and figure sources in a repo (private is fine for the LaTeX, as with book-networks)
  • Scaffold: scripts/new-book.sh --source . --dest mystmd, fill in mystmd/config.yaml, run mystmd/convert.sh
  • Review converted chapters — directives, cross-refs, figures, bibliography; the many solved exercises make the {exercise}/{solution} mapping especially valuable; feed new transform needs back to the pipeline's lessons/
  • Decide code presentation: Python executed at build; R and Julia via extra kernels in CI or pre-rendered from jstac/econometrics
  • Link slides and notebooks repo from the edition
  • Deploy — self-hosted under John's GitHub account, or under QuantEcon if he prefers; record the URL here

List on quantecon.org/books

  • Add _projects/emet.md (type: book, category: quantecon), description from the preface text on the homepage
  • Add cover to assets/img/books/ (MIT Press cover or a QuantEcon-styled one matching DP/Networks)
  • link to the edition once live; set order and new: true

Acceptance criteria

  • All chapters render with working cross-references, equations and bibliography; theorems, proofs and exercises use the standard directives
  • Edition live at a recorded URL
  • Card live on quantecon.org/books
