If you discover a security vulnerability in ShareTab, please report it responsibly by emailing:
Please include:
- A description of the vulnerability
- Steps to reproduce it
- The potential impact
- Any suggested fixes (optional)
We will acknowledge your report within 48 hours and aim to release a fix within 14 days depending on severity.
Please do not open a public GitHub issue for security vulnerabilities.
This project is self-hosted and users are responsible for keeping their instance up to date. Security fixes will be released as new versions — always run the latest image.
Vulnerabilities of interest include but are not limited to:
- Authentication bypass or session hijacking
- Unauthorized access to another user's data (groups, expenses, receipts)
- SQL injection or ORM query manipulation
- Path traversal in file upload/serving endpoints
- XSS or CSRF vulnerabilities
- Insecure direct object references
- Vulnerabilities that require physical access to the host machine
- Issues in third-party dependencies (report those upstream)
- Self-inflicted issues from misconfigured deployments (e.g., exposing the admin panel to the public internet without auth)
