## Follow-up: is Oct 31's Kochurov data there for ROCOR?

Brian raised this (2026-08-29). The Oct 31 readings for St John Kochurov were
first judged wrong against oca.org's monthly lectionary, then restored when the
all-services harvest showed oca.org has them after all. But there is a further
question underneath: Kochurov is a New Martyr of the Russian Church, and the
data may have been shaped for **ROCOR** practice rather than OCA.

(Holy Trinity, Jordanville) is the ROCOR calendar to compare against. Worth
doing before any further change to that date -- and worth remembering that
`tradition` here has only `slavic`, `greek` and `common`, with no OCA/ROCOR
axis, so a genuine OCA-vs-ROCOR divergence has nowhere to live in the current
schema.

Checked 2026-09-03 against holytrinityorthodox.com (Holy Trinity, Jordanville),
the ROCOR calendar. It reckons old calendar, so Julian Oct 31 is Gregorian
Nov 13.

**ROCOR commemorates him and gives him no proper readings.** The day lists "New
Hieromartyr Priest John Kochurov of Chicago and St. Petersburg (1917)" among a
dozen commemorations, and its scripture line is the plain daily cycle for the
24th week after Pentecost -- `1 Thess 5:9-13, 24-28` / `Luke 11:23-26`.

A control rules out the obvious objection that the page simply does not print
propers: Gregorian Nov 26 2026, Julian Nov 13, St John Chrysostom, lists
`John 10:1-9` as Matins Gospel and `Heb 7:26-8:2` / `John 10:9-16` each labelled
"St. John". The format shows propers, with their service and attribution, when
they exist.

So the hypothesis was backwards. Kochurov's three readings are OCA's -- oca.org
gives `Heb 13:7-16`, `Luke 12:32-40` and `John 10:9-16`, all labelled for him --
and ROCOR is the tradition that has none. This app's Slavic data is compiled
from oca.org and follows it here, which is correct and needs no change.

It is worth recording as a genuine OCA/ROCOR divergence, since `tradition` has
only `slavic`, `greek` and `common` and no axis to express one. Oct 31 is a
known instance if that axis is ever added.

One thing this does settle retrospectively: the earlier "fix" that deleted
Kochurov's Epistle and repointed his Gospel would have moved this app toward
ROCOR practice by accident, away from its own documented source. The
all-services harvest caught it, and this check confirms the restore was right.
