Hello.
I make SQL syntax highlight for SQL log panel. It's convenient to see SQL query.
I use GeSHi for syntax highlight.

A lighter alternative would be http://softwaremaniacs.org/soft/highlight/en/

It consists of including 2 files, 1 css and on js

<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://yandex.st/highlightjs/7.2/styles/default.min.css">

And init it like :

<script>hljs.initHighlightingOnLoad();</script>

It'll automatically search for all <code> tags, and colourize the code after guessing the language.

One downside would be that all <code> tags, even the non-debugkit one, will be colourized.

Another option would be an optional https://github.com/jdorn/sql-formatter/ for https://github.com/cakephp/debug_kit/blob/master/View/Elements/sql_log_panel.ctp

It sure would make the statements more readable.
But it would also slow it down. So opt-in (default off) is probably best.

Or the JS approach mentioned above.

One downside would be that all tags, even the non-debugkit one, will be colourized.

You should be able to set a scope, e.g. only inside div.sql or sth.
