Heya, thanks for making this. Ran into a few problems when installing but quickly fixed by my good friend codex.
This is of course fully vibed but yeah

Autogenerated message.

Summary

  • Add setup commands for using the Civ 7 MCP server with Codex on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
  • Keep the server compatible with both MCP 1.x and MCP 2.x.
  • Make the package installable in editable mode so MCP clients can launch it from any project.

Why

MCP 2 renamed and relocated its high-level server API, which prevents the server from importing when the latest allowed MCP dependency is installed.

Installing the package in editable mode also makes the documented MCP commands work independently of the client's current working directory.

Compatibility

The existing MCP 1.x path remains supported, and the server exposes the same Civ 7 tools without behavioral changes.
