Reporting a Vulnerability

If you discover a security vulnerability in the Professional Playwright Automation Framework, please help us by reporting it responsibly.

How to Report

Please do NOT report security vulnerabilities through public GitHub issues.

Instead, please report security vulnerabilities by emailing:

What to Include

Please include the following information in your report:

  1. Description: A clear description of the vulnerability
  2. Steps to Reproduce: Detailed steps to reproduce the issue
  3. Impact: Potential impact and severity of the vulnerability
  4. Affected Versions: Which versions are affected
  5. Mitigation: Any suggested fixes or workarounds

Response Timeline

We will acknowledge your report within 48 hours and provide a more detailed response within 7 days indicating our next steps.

We will keep you informed about our progress throughout the process of fixing the vulnerability.

Disclosure Policy

  • We follow a 90-day disclosure timeline from the initial report
  • We will credit you (if desired) in our security advisory
  • We will not disclose vulnerability details until a fix is available
  • We may delay disclosure for critical infrastructure vulnerabilities

Security Best Practices

For Contributors

When contributing to this project, please:

  1. Never commit sensitive data such as:

    • API keys or tokens
    • Passwords or credentials
    • Private keys or certificates
    • Personal information
  2. Use secure coding practices:

    • Validate all inputs
    • Use parameterized queries for database operations
    • Implement proper error handling
    • Follow the principle of least privilege
  3. Dependencies:

    • Keep dependencies updated
    • Use tools like safety to check for known vulnerabilities
    • Review dependency changes in pull requests

For Users

When using this framework:

  1. Environment Security:

    • Store credentials securely (use environment variables or secret management)
    • Run tests in isolated environments
    • Don't commit sensitive configuration files
  2. Network Security:

    • Use HTTPS for all communications
    • Validate SSL/TLS certificates
    • Be cautious with proxy configurations
  3. Access Control:

    • Limit access to test environments
    • Use role-based access control where applicable
    • Monitor and log access to sensitive systems

Security Features

This framework includes several security features:

Built-in Security Checks
