The editor is paragraph-based and currently only supports core Markdown formatting (bold, italic, code, links, headings, lists, blockquotes). Tables, footnotes, and other extended Markdown syntax are not supported.
These render correctly in preview (via marked) but cannot be edited structurally in the editor — they appear as flat text paragraphs. This also breaks round-tripping for documents that use these features.
