What this is

Full writing-governance gauntlet applied to writings/where-words-stop-working.md, addressing all 13 findings from a six-framework audit.

Frameworks validated

Framework Result
canon/meta/writing-canon (progressive disclosure, 8 checks) Pass
canon/meta/triangle-of-yaps (apex/illustration/next-step, 8 checks) Pass
canon/constraints/guide-posture (3 questions) Pass
canon/constraints/dual-context-writing (body + footer) Pass
canon/constraints/ai-voice-cliches (10 patterns) Pass
canon/methods/self-audit + canon/constraints/definition-of-done Pass

Changes made

Blocking (5 fixed)

  • Blockquote rewritten to compressed argument — ends on the claim, not a rhetorical question
  • DRAFT banner removed; status draft -> peer-review-ready
  • All 4 body chapter references removed; footer rewritten as context-neutral "See also"
  • Counter-argument (building at wrong moment is its own failure) surfaced in blockquote + summary, not first introduced mid-body
  • Negation-parallelism reduced from 4-5 instances to 2 load-bearing ones (under clustering threshold)

Should-fix (6 fixed)

  • Final header subtitled: "...Recognize the Moment and Shift" so header scan reaches the conclusion
  • One-hour qualification moved before the claim lands (honesty test)
  • "I want to be careful here" overclarification removed
  • Triangle A-or-N corner: imperative next step added to the closing + both soft section endings ("Documents Weren't Wasted", "What a Stick Reveals")
  • Guide-posture reanchored in both author stories (Aquifer, PM colleague) so the reader stays the hero
  • Pacing: PM-colleague paragraph restructured to break metronomic rhythm

Administrative (2 fixed)

  • book_part + book_chapter fields added to frontmatter for dual-context surface identity
  • Self-audit recorded as source-only comment block per canon/methods/self-audit.md; provenance updated

One judgment call for the author

The Triangle's "one apex per unit" rule: I resolved the two load-bearing thoughts (planning-limit + wrong-moment-trap) into a single apex sentence. A reviewer could still split this into two pieces. That's an editorial call — flagged, not resolved.

Note

Low Risk
Single markdown essay with editorial and metadata changes only; no runtime code, auth, or data paths affected.

Overview
Runs a writing-governance pass on writings/where-words-stop-working.md, moving it from draft to peer-review-ready and editing for canon compliance rather than rewriting the piece.

Frontmatter & packaging: Adds book_part / book_chapter, extends provenance with the Jun 5 governance pass, and drops the published DRAFT banner. A self-audit comment block records verification against the six frameworks.

Structure & voice: The opening blockquote is tightened into a full compressed argument (claim-first, including the “build at the wrong moment” counterpoint). Body “chapter” wording is removed; the footer becomes a neutral See also link. The closing section header gains a subtitle for header-scan clarity.

Editorial fixes: Counter-argument is surfaced earlier (blockquote/summary); negation-parallelism is trimmed; the “one hour” build claim is qualified before the headline number; guide-posture lines re-anchor anecdotes to the reader; imperative next steps land in the summary and late sections.

Canon Quality — P0010 Retrieval-Readiness ⚠️

Soft report for klappy://canon/constraints/retrieval-disclosure-contract. 653 files scanned. Never blocks — informational until the corpus is ready to enforce.

  • Blocking-class findings: 12 (structural fields the contract would filter on)
  • Warnings: 0 (kind resolves to unknown)
  • Informational: 13 (exempt templates/archive/drafts)

Kind distribution: {'essays': 45, 'canon': 167, 'apocrypha': 38, 'docs': 287, 'journals': 110, 'unknown': 6}
Kind source: {'path': 647, 'none': 6} (frontmatter-primary, path-secondary)
Default-include visibility: 499 visible, 154 hidden (journals/apocrypha/unknown)

By rule: {'audience-invalid': 2, 'exposure-missing': 5, 'tier-missing': 5, 'tier-invalid': 7, 'kind-unresolvable': 6}

These are not schema violations (see the Frontmatter Schema job for those on writings/). They are corpus-readiness signals for the retrieval contract: invalid/missing audience, exposure, tier, and docs whose kind cannot be resolved. Fix in a corpus-cleanup PR before the contract flips to enforcing. See the retrieval-readiness-findings artifact for the full list.
