tests/test_benchmarks.py imports simple_benchmark, full_benchmark and kernel_benchmark from the sibling benchmarks/ directory via Path(__file__).resolve().parents[1] / "benchmarks". CIBW_TEST_SOURCES only staged tests/, so those imports failed with ModuleNotFoundError on cp312/cp313/cp314 (gotcha 104).
