\Omega does not render

I wonder why... The code responsible for this is at https://github.com/kisonecat/dvi2html/blob/master/src/html.ts#L153-L172 And my initial comment "This is ridiculous." suggests how I feel about this.

­ is encoded as 0xAD, which is 173, which is apparently where CM put Omega, based on http://ctan.math.utah.edu/ctan/tex-archive/fonts/cm/ps-type1/bakoma/BaKoMa-CM.Fonts A thing to try is whether the browser will render the glyph at 173 in the cmr10 font at all?

I'm mostly unhappy with how tex.rossprogram.org is handling fonts via a TeX engine that doesn't support unicode, so handling the strange font encodings is frustrating.

This is presumably a serious problem for your use-case since \Omega comes up with resistors.

Ah I see, that does make sense. Do you have any recommendations for how I could go about fixing it? It does not appear that &#173 renders in the browser properly at all in the cmr10 font, unfortunately.
