I just tried to import my RSA gpg key from a Yubikey, but this failed.

I could generate a separate gpg key, but since the current one is already core to various process (release management etc), I cannot easily switch to a completely new key.
Carrying a second Yubikey would also an option, albeit one that I have rejected
