…nd SAASBO, fix BOCS wording; rebuild PDFs
Manuscript (manuscript/manuscript-body.tex): - Author block/order + equal-contribution & corresponding-author scheme, with a confirm-affiliations todo (T0) - Define "tensegrity-inspired" at first use (T2) and "FFF" at first use (T14) - Cite both BoTorch and Ax; add pmlr-v293-olson25a to references.bib (T6) - Resolve BO fidelity todo to single-stage; reword pretensioned-assembly contribution; drop "forward simulator" and add PR #33 simulation todo (T8/T9/T10) - Apply Ye-et-al. wording suggestion; de-emphasize core-wrapping and state our internal-anchoring inverts (not validates) Ye's geometry (T7/T15/T20/T27) - Remove run-in-heading period on "Working prototype" (T21) - Real overview figure from figures/overview-updated.png + vertical-orientation todo (T5); real design-variable table from the T3-prism Sobol batch (T19) - Add Davami 2019 + Intrigila 2022 entries and cite them (T12) - Replace redundant BO-loop schematic with LOO-CV + sensitivity placeholders (T25) - Add printed-prototype callout figure (T18) and prior-work differentiation todo (T13); print-parameter skeleton table pending @achris0520 (T28) Supplementary Information (manuscript/supplementary.tex, new) + Makefile target: - Move joint-design (PR #39/#35) and support-generation (PR #65/#66) specifics out of the main text into SI; main text now points to SI (T22/T23) Edison (scripts/edison/, edison-trajectories/review-followups/): - Submit + fetch drivers for the two review-requested LITERATURE_HIGH queries: citation classification (T4) and SEA/impact-math check (T26) Rebuild manuscript.pdf (9 pp), manuscript-todos.pdf, manuscript-diff.pdf, and supplementary.pdf. Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com>
The fabrication-workflow figure (T24, node-only) was wired into manuscript-body.tex but its source/PDF were left untracked, which would break the build. Commit figures/fab-workflow.tex + .pdf and the rebuilt manuscript PDFs, remove the spurious standalone manuscript-body.pdf artifact, and gitignore it. Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com>
…edback Drop the singlecolumn class option so the draft renders in the ASME two-column format (clean PDF 7 pp); promote the overview and fabrication-workflow figures to full-width figure* floats so they span both columns. Rebuild manuscript.pdf, manuscript-todos.pdf, and manuscript-diff.pdf. Also submit the T24 node-only fabrication-workflow figure to Edison ANALYSIS for feedback (task 5ba82b0c) via scripts/edison/submit_fabfig_feedback.py. Fetched the three completed review follow-up Edison tasks and committed the verbatim trajectories under edison-trajectories/review-followups/. T4 (citation classification, 4ba95a0f): Edison confirms neither Ye et al. 2023 (thick-panel origami) nor Khatri & Egan 2024 (ABS/TPU honeycomb) is "tensegrity-inspired". Reframed the Intro and Background 2.2 so these are cited as rigid-soft multi-material AM precedents (origami / honeycomb) with correct materials, not tensegrity; added a todo listing genuinely tensegrity-inspired 3D-printed references (Bauer 2021, Pajunen 2021, Santos 2023, Sabouni-Zawadzka 2024, + verify Almeida/Davami 2025, Wang 2026) with DOIs. T26 (SEA/impact math, e4e5fb15): Edison confirms the SEA and compaction- efficiency definitions are standard. Added the two key caveats: densification displacement via the efficiency-maximum method (d eta/d delta = 0) and F_max as the maximum force within [0, delta_d]; todo to cite canonical references (Gibson & Ashby, Avalle 2001, Tan 2005, Michailidis 2011). Relabeled the Lansmont M23 as a shock/cushion tester per ASTM D1596. T24 (figure feedback, 5ba82b0c, ANALYSIS): rebuilt figures/fab-workflow.tex from a single-row 11:1 strip to a legible 2x3 serpentine grid (~2.4:1) with renamed nodes (Parametric Design, CAD Generation, Multi-Material Slicing, Dual-Extrusion FFF, Post-Processing & Pretensioning, Dynamic & Static Testing) and dashed BO-feedback arrows. Also fix the fetcher (scripts/edison/fetch_review_followups.py): UTF-8 writes (Windows cp1252 crashed on Greek glyphs), immediate first poll, and ANALYSIS answer extraction. Rebuild manuscript.pdf (8 pp), manuscript-todos.pdf, and manuscript-diff.pdf. Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com>

@me-madsen could you make another review of the latest manuscript? |
|
@claude run an extensive overhaul of the manuscript to align with #84 #102 and every other recent addition or modification to this repository. See #99, too. Ensure that you are also overhauling supporting information. Include #33 too. Download the PPT so you can get a better sense of the most recent key messages. Once done with your extensive edits, send to Edison to rubber duck it, focusing on adversarial dialogue and Socratic method. Run five iterations of "send one query to Edison, manually correct, ..." In terms of analysis, at each stage, ensure that you're taking screenshots of each page and using your vision language reasoning. Also do vision language reasoning on all figures. |

…33 #94 #97 #85 #86 #98 #101) Pivot from planned-methods SEA/eta_c framing to the executed campaign: drop-tower objectives t180 (filtered peak-acceleration ratio) and rebound energy per drop, SAASBO round 1 on the printed Sobol seed batch (real results table, real Pareto/feature-importance/LOOCV figures with labels regenerated for naming consistency), round-2 batch in fabrication, constant-solid-mass projection + printability screens, as-printed fabrication record (manual painted supports, TPU dry box, high-flow nozzle), corrected J211 filter provenance, simulation screening ladder from PR #33 with honest scorecard, metal-analog metric switched to t180, Edison adversarial objective review reflected in Discussion/round-3 plan. SI rewritten: print key, drop-tower protocol/rig characterization, printed-mass model, simulation ladder. Em-dash sweep per style guide. Rebuilt all four PDFs. Co-authored-by: Sterling G. Fixed the amplification count (five of eight above unity, not seven), relabeled E_reb as a provisional mass-weighted rebound score with the velocity-squared and ballistic-validation caveats, softened trade-off language everywhere to the rho=-0.39 disclosure, reconciled SD vs SEM reporting, added the explicit GP noise-variance equations and estimand, clarified the surrogate input vector vs the mass tracking metric, disentangled the two round-2 recommendation sets (printed solid-mass batch vs regenerated constant-printed-mass set), justified retaining screen-violating recommendations, added an SI processing-pipeline paragraph, and rebuilt all PDFs. Trajectory committed. Co-authored-by: Sterling G. Baird <45469701+sgbaird@users.noreply.github.com> Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Rubber-duck loop complete: all five Edison iterations fetched and appliedContinued from the previous session and finished the five-iteration "send one query to Edison, manually correct" loop. Every task was submitted, fetched, applied, rebuilt, and committed; all artifacts are in
Direct downloads (commit
Every page of the rebuilt manuscript and SI was rendered and inspected visually (title/abstract, novelty table, print-parameter table, Table 5, Pareto and LOOCV figures, SI joint montage); zero missing citations and zero overfull boxes beyond a 1.6 pt residue on Table 3. What remains (data-gated, per the iteration-5 Associate Editor): round-2 predicted-versus-measured, budget-matched baseline, SAASBO-versus-GP calibration, replicate articles, rebound video validation, quasi-static Instron metrics, metal-analog build, dimensional metrology, and pull-out/fatigue testing. Referee polish items still open: labeling Fig. 6 by spec ID with a scale bar and regenerating the Pareto/importance figure axis labels (both need the campaign plotting pipeline with a NUTS refit), reworking the proposal-style Fig. 1, and the version-tagged code/data archival release. Note: the app git token expired mid-session as anticipated; recovery used the action's own OIDC token-exchange path, and all commits were pushed (nothing stranded locally). |

@claude these edits are really bad. It should still read based on the intended final scope, with placeholder data in certain places. Assume that we have the data from the second batch (come up with some dummy data, but clearly mark it as such). |

How the dummy data is markedEvery invented number is typeset in violet, and a violet draft-note box on page 1 of both the manuscript and the SI states the convention: violet = synthetic placeholder pending the physical round-2 drop sessions, black = real measurement. The dummy figures additionally carry a diagonal "SYNTHETIC PLACEHOLDER DATA" watermark, and the dataset lives at round2-measured-DUMMY.csv, generated by make_round2_dummy_data.py so it can be regenerated or swapped for real pipeline output. The real seed-round measurements are untouched. What the paper now says (round-2 dummy values anchored to the real archived predictions for trials 10 to 18)
Build qualityVision-checked every page of both PDFs at each build: zero missing citations, violet marking legible in print, watermarks visible. One real bug found and fixed along the way: a bare Not done this round (not requested): no new Edison submission. If you want a round-6 mock review of the final-scope draft, say the word. |
Invented stand-in measurements for the printed-but-untested round-2 batch (trials 10-18), watermarked SYNTHETIC PLACEHOLDER DATA and violet-coded, per PR #76 direction to write the manuscript at its intended final scope. Co-authored-by: Sterling G. Baird <45469701+sgbaird@users.noreply.github.com>
…data Per PR #76 feedback: drop the status-report framing, restore final-paper voice, and add a Round-2 Results subsection whose values are synthetic placeholders typeset in violet (draft-note box defines the convention). Abstract, introduction, discussion, conclusions, and SI print key updated to match; real seed-round measurements unchanged. Co-authored-by: Sterling G. Baird <45469701+sgbaird@users.noreply.github.com>
Per-cell coloring for the violet round-2 table (a bare \color declaration in the float leaked into the output routine and misplaced lineno margin numbers on pages 9-11); hypervolume-figure seed annotation repositioned. Latexdiff regenerated against pre-session baseline 1669178. Co-authored-by: Sterling G. Baird <45469701+sgbaird@users.noreply.github.com>

Issue #75 recovers from agent failures on PR #20 by establishing a clean branch for the ASME Journal of Mechanical Design (JMD) manuscript and addressing the outstanding peer-review feedback.
This branch now merges all commits from PR #20's
copilot/create-manuscript-template, bringing in the fullmanuscript/(body, SI, build infrastructure), figures, and Edison scripts.ISSUE_75_CONTEXT.mdremains as a consolidated working reference for the Issue #19 / PR #20 history.Round-2 review feedback addressed (comment 4687197892)
bo/t3_prism_sobol_batch.py, PR Add T3-prism (3-strut tensegrity) parametric CAD with Bambu PETG.gcode.3mfslice + re-importable project.3mf(H2D-only, supports enabled, scale 1.5× / cable_d 4.5 mm) + PLA-cables and PLA-struts/TPU-cables MM variants (with modeled-in PLA scaffo... #35) — a 5-variable continuous search space (R,H, twist, a single strut diameter, a single cable diameter) with no categorical variables. Removed the "12→4 orbit axes (1 strut + 3 cable)" claim; Table 1 now matches the code.{1.2,1.8,2.4,3.0,4.5}mm set.Metal-analog validation plan
Added a Methods subsection plus an SI section describing a validation campaign using hollow aluminum rods and stainless-steel threaded cables. Predicted worst-, mediocre-, and best-performing designs (not only the top performers) will be built and compared against their PLA/TPU equivalents to test rank-order preservation, with a placeholder results table, a rank-correlation figure, and image callouts for the assembled/printed structures (true placeholders for now).
Edison round-3 mock review
Submitted the revised manuscript + SI to Edison ANALYSIS for another round of mock reviewer + editor feedback (task
d17a2155, committed underedison-trajectories/mock-jmd-review-3/). Decision: Major Revision, explicitly improved over round 2, with all round-2 items acknowledged resolved; the remaining gate is the intentional placeholder Results/Discussion. Also fixed a budget inconsistency flagged by the reviewers (now n=9 + T=10×q=5 = 59 specimens).Round-3 review feedback addressed (comment 4699376594)
Implemented the actionable round-3 items (those not requiring real campaign data):
d_jat 7.0 mm.d_s/d_tare discretized by nozzle/line-width/support, with measured diameters reported and dimensional spread folded into the inferred noise.Data-dependent items (Results/Discussion, Table 3 print settings, Zenodo DOI) remain honest placeholders.
Edison round-4 mock review
Submitted the further-revised manuscript + SI to Edison ANALYSIS for a fourth round of mock reviewer + editor feedback (task
a81649dc, committed with its notebook artifact underedison-trajectories/mock-jmd-review-4/). Decision: Major Revision, "closer to publishable form than the prior round-3 Major Revision." The editor explicitly confirms all four round-3 citation gaps are closed (SAASBO, TuRBO, SEA/densification metrics, SAE J211/1) and that the constrained multi-objective formulation, empirical SAASBO framing, consistent budget, justified joint diameter, acknowledged diameter discretization, and pre-specified metal-analog rank criterion are resolved. The remaining gate is the inherent placeholder Results/Discussion; the only new reference ask is to integrate the already-flagged tensegrity-AM works (Bauer 2021, Pajunen 2021 EML, Santos 2023, Sabouni-Zawadzka 2024) once verified.Round-4 review feedback addressed (comment 4700329518)
Integrated the already-flagged tensegrity additive-manufacturing literature — the only non-data reference ask remaining from round 4. Each DOI was verified against Crossref before citing, and the prior
\todo{}placeholder note was replaced with measured prose positioning this work against the printed-tensegrity literature in the multi-material / tensegrity-architecture background. References added tomanuscript/references.biband wired intomanuscript-body.tex:10.1002/adma.202005647)10.1016/j.eml.2021.101236)10.24425/ace.2024.150987)10.1016/j.ijsolstr.2025.113590)10.1016/j.ijimpeng.2024.105208)10.1016/j.addma.2026.105107)The three "verify-then-cite" extras (Almeida, Davami, Wang) all verified, so they were folded in as the closest dynamic/impact and integrated-fabrication tensegrity-AM works. Santos 2023 (
10.1002/adma.202300639) was already cited from an earlier round.Edison round-5 mock review
Submitted the revised manuscript + SI to Edison ANALYSIS for a fifth round of mock reviewer + editor feedback (task
e4c536b4, committed with its notebook artifact underedison-trajectories/mock-jmd-review-5/). Decision: Major Revision, "a meaningful improvement over the round-4 submission … closer to acceptance." The Associate Editor explicitly states the round-4 tensegrity-AM reference ask is now resolved and that all prior bibliographic gaps are closed (SAASBO, TuRBO, SEA/densification metrics, SAE J211/1, plus this tensegrity-AM set), and Reviewer #3 confirms the new references are used appropriately (architecture-class evidence, not proof of the specific PLA/TPU process or internal-anchor joint). The remaining gate is the inherent placeholder Results/Discussion, synthetic example figures, and TBD process/test parameters; the only non-data suggestions are optional/strengthening (justify the homoscedastic inferred-noise choice, rename the novelty table, optionally one more transmitted-force→absorber-design citation).Build
Rebuilt all PDFs (manuscript, supplementary, todos, and a latexdiff diff against the pre-session baseline) and recompiled the fabrication-workflow figure. Direct download links for co-author review were posted in the PR comment reply.
